Tour story

The Sherpani Col Pass Trek is one of the most challenging and remote treks in the Nepal Himalayas, designed for experienced trekkers seeking a high-altitude adventure far from the mainstream routes. Located in the Makalu-Barun region, this trek takes you through untouched valleys, ancient Sherpa villages, and dramatic landscapes, starting from the lowlands of Tumlingtar and gradually ascending toward the high Himalayas. The trail passes through the stunning Makalu Base Camp and crosses a series of high passes, Sherpani Col (6,135m), West Col (6,135m), and Amphu Laptsa (5,845m), making it one of the most technically demanding treks in Nepal.

The journey offers breathtaking views of some of the world’s highest peaks, including Makalu (8,485m), Lhotse, Baruntse, and even Everest from unique and rarely seen angles. Trekkers traverse remote alpine terrain, icy glaciers, and rugged passes requiring ropes, crampons, and the support of experienced guides and climbing Sherpas. Due to its high-altitude challenges and technical sections, this trek is considered part trekking, part expedition, and demands excellent physical fitness, previous high-altitude trekking experience, and a strong spirit of adventure.

Beyond the physical challenge, the Sherpani Col Pass Trek offers rich cultural encounters with the Sherpa, Rai, and Limbu communities, as well as incredible ecological diversity within the Makalu-Barun National Park. With its raw wilderness, minimal tourist infrastructure, and dramatic landscapes, the trek is ideal for those looking to push their limits and experience the remote grandeur of Nepal's wild east. This is not a typical tea house trek, it's a full expedition into the heart of the Himalayas.
